Next Door Neighbors | Egyptians

Next Door Neighbors: Egyptians is the sixth installment in Nashville Public Television’s award winning
Next Door Neighbors series. Today an estimated 12,000 Egyptians call Nashville home. Much of the community came to the city through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, also known as the DV Lottery. Unlike Nashville’s many refugee communities, Lottery recipients choose to come to the US, leaving their former lives for the hope of better opportunities for themselves and future generations. For newly arrived Egyptians facing the struggle of adjustment, the question remains, is the sacrifice – trading one life for another - worth it.
